On Friday, August 4, the DFW Chinese Alliance (DFWCA) collaborated with DFW WE CARE to co-host their 2023 Back to School Drive in an impactful effort to support elementary students with the supplies needed to start the school year. Here at Central Elementary School, Lewisville, where the event was held, organizations like YES contributed to DFW WE CARE’s cause by helping fill backpacks as well as volunteering at the Youth Cultural Exchange Performance and Donation Ceremony that occurred later in the afternoon.
For over 20 years, DFW WE CARE has been hosting back to school drives for students across Dallas Fort Worth. Having aided in the organization and distribution of supplies from grades K-5, YES members demonstrated their leadership and commitment to their community by filling a total of 50 backpacks with efficiency and care. With the cooperation of all 20 of our volunteers, YES was able to maximize their productivity by coordinating roles and collaborating.
While the leadership and unity YES members displayed throughout this event proved to be a great feat towards our goals as an organization, the cultural exchange event was an even greater sight to behold. With vibrant dancers and fierce martial artists, the various virtuosic performances dazzled the audience and left them breathless. All that could be heard throughout this night was the inspired cheers and vigorous applause of the wowed spectators.
With each performance's herculean efforts and great skill, as well as the benevolence of our own extraordinary YES members, this event proved to be as significant as it was progressive- In yet another step towards the ambitions of each individual member and YES as a whole.
