Runners wind a trail along a glittering lake, forming a stream of people threading through the crisp autumn air. Some slow to enjoy the music as they pass by, or take a break to watch the singer performing beside the path. Others continue with a smile on their faces, newly invigorated by the scenic view and lovely melody. On October 26th, the Youth Entrepreneur Society participated in the Frisco Arts 5K Walk & Run. Members arrived early to prepare for the event, beginning to set up at the venue before the sun had risen. As dawn broke, YES participants gathered to warm up, chatting and stretching together in anticipation for the 3-mile run ahead.
Over 100 members raced from the starting line as the run began, spanning all ages and backgrounds. During this event, people of all backgrounds, cities, and walks of life were brought together through this cultural experience. There was something to enjoy for everyone—some runners flew through the course, others jogging at a more amiable pace with friends and basking in the October morning chill. Along the picturesque routes of Kaleidoscope Park, artists from organizations such as Melody of Hope, Frisco Community Band, and Children’s Chorus of Collin County performed. Various art mediums were displayed, from lion dancing to stilt walkers, showcasing the versatility and creativity of the performers.
As runners began to reach the end of the path, each participant was cheered on to the finish line, and awarded with a colorful medal to commemorate the accomplishment. The winners in each age group received awards as well, along with a chance to select a piece of artwork to take home with them. The funds from the run will go to support arts in the community, helping innovation and imagination flourish further. Through participating in this event, YES members aided in uniting both people and fine arts to foster a cohesive community– An experience of bonding, exercise, and fun that YES will continue to look forward to for years to come!
