One of the Youth Entrepreneurship Society’s many aims is to improve our community, demonstrating much of our dedication to this goal through leadership and volunteering. On July 29, 2023, YES members prioritized aiding a part of the community that they themselves identified with: the student body. As the new school year approaches, YES partnered with Dymensions Educational Consulting LLC to distribute backpacks and school supplies to learners like themselves.
Dymensions’s mission is to enhance the education system through providing resources and support for students, parents, and teachers alike. In previous years, Dymension distributed over 200 backpacks at their office in Plano, Texas. However, they have begun to expand their valuable and relevant impact to neighboring cities such as Frisco, where YES members volunteered at Earnest B’s BBQ & Catering in Crest INFINITI to distribute backpacks. During the event, catering was provided by the host location while visiting families were able to socialize, enter raffles, and get face paints after collecting school supplies for their children.
Through the backpack and school supplies giveaway, YES was able to help many students get ready for the upcoming school year. YES members were able to spread awareness of the challenges faced by many underfunded schools around us. We’re also reminded of the privileges given to us from our parents to be well educated in such a supportive community. Thus, we should be the ones to take action and support the other children, for in order to improve our community and bring change, we must start by taking initiative.
